- Here is some brief background on the 'Slam' Featherweight Tournament Participants (For more CLICK HERE):

1. World number one Mosab “The Jaguar” Amrani (48-7-4, 14 KOs) takes the top seed position. He returned from an injury layoff at GLORY 5 LONDON in March to take out the world number three Liam Harrison with a first-round body-shot knockout.

2. Number two seed is world #2 Yuta Kubo (37-4-1, 17 KOs) of Japan. He has been dominating Japan and Asia for a long time. In recent years he has been defeating world-class international opposition and in January of this year he won an eight-man tournament to ensure he is razor sharp for GLORY 8.

3. Number three seed is Liam Harrison (72-15-2, 38 KOs) of England. He has suffered sleepless nights since the loss to Amrani at GLORY 5 in March and it has been haunting his waking moments. He considers himself the best in the world and while he wants to prove that by winning the tournament, he has a more immediate goal in mind.

4. World-ranked #4 Abdallah Ezbiri (32-6, 11 KOs) of Morocco via France, survived a turbulent youth in a bad part of Paris on the way to becoming a top kickboxer. The discipline of the sport kept him on the right path and now he channels that difficult upbringing into his fighting. Ezbiri is the current ISKA and WKN champion in his weight class and is noted for matching aggression with technical excellence.

5. At #5 is Chibin Lim (69-16, 40 KOs) of South Korea. He has been described as “the best South Korean kickboxer of all time” by kickboxing media and its probably a fair assessment, given his dominance of the Korean circuit and his success in Japan and elsewhere.

6. Canadian prodigy Gabriel Varga (21-1, 8 KOs) grew up in a house of martial artists. His father is a karate master and all of his family train in something. Varga was being trained in Shotokan techniques at the age of four and by 17 he was a second-degree karate black belt. He then moved into the world of Muay Thai to broaden his training base.

7. The hyper-aggressive Marcus Vinicius (7-1, 1 KO) is the tournament’s dark horse. Somewhat unknown to casual fans, he has racked up a lot of wins at amateur in his native Brazil before turning professional. He hails from the Bahia region of Brazil, a tough region known for producing high-level fighters. It is the homeland of champions such as Rodrigo Nogueira and Junior Dos Santos.

8. The final part of the line-up is Masaaki Noiri (18-3, 7 KOs). The young Japanese is ranked #8 but he came in at number one in the recent Road To Glory: Japan tournament which earned him this weekend’s slot. R2G events are designed to uncover the next generation of fighting stars for full-scale GLORY events and Noiri is perhaps the most impressive of all the talents unearthed thus far.
