TDR's High School Wrestler of the Month for November 2008 We are pleased to announce the winner for TDR HS Wrestler for November 2008. This is our third award, and the announcement comes slightly late based on all the things that must be accomplished correspondent with the start of wrestling season.
Jordan Jones is a 16 year old Sophomore at North High School in Des Moines, IA. Jordan is a member of the North/Hoover wrestling team (103 lbs.), finished 6th in Division 3A State Championships in February, as well as placing 2nd in the Brute adidas Nationals. Jordan's wrestling experience starts at the age of five, and he has placed in the Iowa State AAU Kids Tournament several times.
He is member of the Honor Roll, Student Council, and contributes to the school Year Book Committee. Given he works out 2-3 times a day, and lives with seven siblings at home, it's amazing he is able to maintain such a busy academic and civic schedule. While Jordan has few losses (39-5 high school record), he has accepted those losses with dignity, putting forward positivity that is clearly noticed by his peers, competitors, teachers, parents, and coaches.
As top scorer for North/Hoover combined last season, team MVP, and Most Valuable Freshman, Jordan is highly visible in the student and wrestling communities. He also plays football for North. Jordan has the humility that is associated with many of his heroes in the sport and knows he is responsible to carry that legacy forward. Everything Jordan has accomplished was earned and did not come easily. His next goal is to go on to college, knowing a scholarship may be necessary to do so.
Here is a young man with his eyes on the prize, and now with a new one to his credit. Thanks to the tremendous support of Resilite, Brute/ Adidas, Sunflower Wrestling Supply, W.I.N. Magazine, and Intermat, one great high school wrestler from the U.S. will be recognized and rewarded each month. Coaches and parents can submit reasons and examples why their choice wrestler is deserving of the national attention, and fantastic rewards that will follow. PDF forms can be downloaded at the W.I.N. Magazine and Intermat web sites. Considering the hard work it takes to excel in this sport its a relatively easy thing to do. Take a moment to nominate your wrestler today!
