Takedown Wrestling Media and Sports Time Ohio Announce Distribution Agreement

October 19th, 2012 - Des Moines, IA/ Cleveland, Ohio

Takedown Wrestling Media presented by Fight Now (www.takedownradio.com) announced that they have reached a major distribution agreement with Sports Time Ohio (http://www.sportstimeohio.com). Under the terms of the agreement STO will air Takedown Wrestling Media programming to promote and grow the sport of wrestling.

The distribution agreement between Takedown Wrestling Media and Sports Time Ohio is both important and strategic. It will allow both the companies to work together to promote the sport at all levels and to more thoroughly deliver wrestling news to fans in STO’s Ohio Valley regional footprint as well as to its viewers on DirecTV and Dish Networks. STO will begin to air Takedown Wrestling Media’s 30 minute weekly programming beginning Thursday November 1st, 2012 at 6:30 Eastern/5:30 CST.

"All of us at Takedown Wrestling Media are pleased to partner with Sports Time Ohio to keep sports and wrestling fans around the world informed of the news from the world of wrestling. College and International styles alike will benefit from the wide and growing distribution of STO," said Scott Casber, Founder of Takedown Wrestling Media.

Casber's views were mirrored by Sports Time Ohio’s Vice President of Program Acquisition, Pat Kilkenny, who said, "We believe that the time is right to expand our wrestling news coverage. We see the sport of wrestling as being under-reported nationally and feel that by teaming up with Takedown Media we can give STO wrestling fans access to the finest worldwide wrestling coverage available."

The distribution agreement between Takedown Wrestling Media and Sports Time Ohio is the 13th major media partnering agreement between Takedown Wrestling Media and national and international sports broadcast companies in recent months. The agreement is part of a global strategy by Takedown Wrestling Media to create a worldwide network of interconnected sporting news outlets designed to cover and promote the growing sport of wrestling in all its disciplines. Takedown Wrestling Media’s international growth is lead by its primary partner Fight Now TV from Montreal, Canada/ New York City, New York and Fight Box airing in (Krakow Poland, Moscow Russia and throughout Eastern Europe)

Wrestling To be Cut from the Olympics? Call to Action

Dear friends of wrestling,

This horrible news for our sport broke last night and today.

The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (through a secret balloting process) has moved wrestling from the list of 26 sports that will be in the 2020 Olympics onto a list of 7 sports of which one will be added to the 2020 Olympics.

The Executive Committee will vote for one on this list in May and then pass those recommendations on to the General Body of the IOC for a vote of approval in September in St. Petersburg.

The 7 sports are:

Baseball/Softball
Karate
Wakeboarding
Squash
Roller Sports
Wushu
Wrestling

This is a very scary and very real threat to our sport.

But the fight is not over and wrestlers never quit. USA Wrestling is on top of this and will be sending out more info soon on TheMat.com. Efforts will be organized with other countries to keep our sport in the Olympics. We need your help.

Pass this information on to every wrestler, coach and fan you know!

Beat the Streets’s “Rumble on the Rails” Will Feature Team USA vs. Russia and Iran in NYC May 15th

For years, the annual Beat the Streets event in New York City has featured some of the best wrestling talent around... 2013 will be no exception.

On May 15, Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall will be the host of the “Rumble on the Rails”, involving three of the world’s top wrestling nations – the United States, Russia and Iran. Action is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. when the United States takes on the Iranians. Shortly afterwards, Beat the Streets exhibition matches will take place before the US and Russia square off in another dual at 6 p.m.. Following the competition, the annual Beat the Streets Gala will begin at the Bryant Park Grill.

The nations will come together to support both the Beat the Streets program as well as show unity for the Keep Olympic Wrestling movement.

USA Wrestling and Beat the Streets-Los Angeles, Inc. announced another major event which will be a highlight of World Wrestling Month in May. The United States and Iran will come together in a friendly international wrestling competition Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Billed “United 4 Wrestling,” the event is sponsored the Semnani Family Foundation, an international humanitarian organization based in Salt Lake City and founded by Khosrow Semnani, a prominent Iranian-American philanthropist. The USA vs. Iran dual meet will feature the current international freestyle wrestling rules. Lineups will be released when available, but is expected to include major international stars from both nations, including Olympic and World medalists. Although their governments do not always agree, the wrestling leaders in these two nations have a strong working relationship. Iran has competed in wrestling in the United States 10 times in recent years. The Iranian team will also compete in New York City on May 15 at Vanderbilt Hall in New York’s Grand Central Terminal in an event also featuring the United States and Russia.
