PlayStation Vita News

 

 

According to Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida, software for the upcoming PlayStation Vita will not be region-locked. He hasn’t indicated if the digital content for the console will be free of region coding as well, but for the moment gamers can rest easy knowing that the lion’s share of available media for the system will be playable anywhere, anytime.

 

 

 

 

 

Portal for Free

 

 

For the moment, the first installment of the critically-acclaimed Portal series is available for free on Steam (Ending September 20th). This comes as part of Valve’s initiative to teach children problem-solving skills. As part of what the company is calling “Learn With Portals,” Valve insists that “Using interactive tools like the Portal series to draw them in makes physics, math, logic, spatial reasoning, probability, and problem-solving interesting, cool, and fun which gets us one step closer to our goal—engaged, thoughtful kids!”

Final Fantasy XIII-2 PlayStation Slim

 

 

On December 15th in Japan, Sony will debut an exclusive edition of the PlayStation 3 Slim to coincide with the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2. Packaged with a standard version of the game, the console features a pink image of character Lighting, stenciled onto a black 320GB version of the system. Additionally, Square Enix confirmed they are working on the first DLC pack, to be released after the game launches.

 

 

 

 

 

Resident Evil 6 Hoax?

 

 

An ultra-convincing possible trailer for Resident Evil 6 has, in the 24 hours since it first hit and enraptured gamers, been confirmed by Capcom sources as fake. Since it’s been nearly three years since the release of Resident Evil 5, fans are understandably excited about the prospect of a sequel, and were among the first to dig into the fake trailer and it’s possibilities.

Deadshot Joins Arkham City Cast

 

 

According to Game Trailers TV host Geoff Keighley, the famed DC Comics assassin Deadshot will make an appearance in the hotly-anticipated Batman: Arkham City.  Deadshot joins new villains such as Mr. Freeze and Catwoman in the expanded world of this sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum.

 

 

 

 

 

Soul Calibur V Announced

 

 

In a presentation held immediately prior to the Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai producer Hisaharu Tago revealed that the company’s Soul Calibur V is set for a global release in the first quarter of 2012. Furthermore, he announced that development studio CyberConnect2 (Naruto Ultimate Ninja) will be collaborating on the game.

InFamous 2 DLC News

 

 

Sony has revealed the release dates for both the DLC expansion for Infamous 2, titled Festival of Blood, and Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest. The Move-enabled Infamous 2 DLC hits on October 25th, just before Halloween, while Zindagi Games’ Medieval Moves is scheduled for a November 15th release.

 

 

 

 

 

Dead Island Sales Numbers

 

 

The zombie-horror title Dead Island is posting substantial first-week sales, shipping over one million units to North American retailers, with the two million mark fully expected to be crossed by the end of week 2. These facts come as less of a surprise when considering the game’s best-selling status in the UK and France, as well as it’s number-one position on the Steam sales charts.
