Twisted Metal Gold
After years of laborious development, Eat Sleep Play’s revitalization of the Twisted Metal franchise has finally gone gold. Due for release on the PlayStation 3 this Valentine’s Day, Twisted Metal aims to take the series of vehicular combat games back to their darker roots.
New ME3 Details
On a January 19th broadcast of GT.TV, new details about the hotly anticipated Mass Effect 3 were brought to light. A new character, named James Vega, can be expected to factor prominently in the game’s story, and will be voiced by 90’s heartthrob Freddie Prinze Jr. Additionally, a new location is being introduced into the Mass Effect pantheon – Mars.

Resident Evil 6 Street Date
Resident Evil 6 has finally been given its release date in November 20th, 2012. Available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, the new survival-horror game features a split plotline that shuttles players between Raccoon City and China. A new teaser website for Resident Evil 6, called NoHopeLeft.com, was created by Capcom recently and features the upcoming game’s trailer.
New Skyrim Patch
A massively effective new patch for Skyrim, 1.4, is being touted by Bethesda as solving many of the experience-crushing bugs that have kept Skyrim from being the enjoyably seamless RPG it should be. The infinite loop in bookshelves experienced by some players will be corrected in 1.4, as will other bug and performance fixes across the board. The patch is expected to be finalized by Bethesda by next week, and rolled out soon afterwards.

PS Vita gets Mortal Kombat
A new iteration of Mortal Kombat has long been in development for the PlayStation Vita, and NetherRealm studios have finally released some details as to its content. In a move that seems destined to please fans and novices alike, the popular PlayStation 3 version of Mortal Kombat is being ported over, with the 60 fps graphics, story mode, downloadable content being kept intact. There will be additional modes specific to the Vita in the new portable fighter.
Max Payne 3 Delayed
Though disgraced cop epic Max Payne 3 was recently slated for a March 2012 release, it has been pushed to May by developer Take-Two Interactive. According to CEO Strauss Zelnick, the Max Payne sequel is being pushed back to “ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality.” The game will tentatively be in stores May 15th for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version due in the US on May 29th.

BioShock Infinite Update
Irrational Games, the developer behind BioShock Infinite, has revealed that a new mode, “1999”, is being introduced to the game. As opposed to normal mode, 1999 mode gives players’ choices permanent consequences, and removes from the level design any abundance of ammo or re-spawn points. In other words, it makes Infinite’s narrative much more challenging and real. BioShock Infinite is due on an unspecified date in 2012.
Next-Gen Console COD Underway
A new Call of Duty game is being quietly prepped by Infinity Ward for one of the upcoming next generation consoles. A job posting, asking for a senior animator with game development credentials and an interest in next-generation technology, was made recently by the Call of Duty developers. Though Activision has yet to announce the franchise’s specific plans, much will certainly come to light soon, with E3 looming so close on the horizon.
