Team NINJA Confirms Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
This week, Team NINJA confirmed that Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will be published by Tecmo Koei Europe this fall as both retail packaged goods and digital download. Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate heightens the signature DOA fighting style with the inclusion of all of the new modes from Dead or Alive 5 Plus, new stages and new fighters, including the first ever DOA appearance of Momiji and levels from the Ninja Gaiden series. According to Team NINJA, more details about Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be revealed in the coming months.
Is Xbox Infinity Microsoft’s Next System?
The next Xbox will be called Infinity, according to inside sources who spoke with IB Times. Here is part of the report – sources have now revealed the console will be named Infinity and that development kits are already in the hands of studios. However, when contacted for confirmation, Microsoft said it “does not comment on rumors and speculation.” If this is true it would probably come as a surprise to most gamers who were anticipating the “Xbox 720”. This mystery will be solved on May 21st as Microsoft will unveil the new console alongside the next Call of Duty game, the next-gen console is expected to launch in November, 2013, to coincide with the PlayStation 4’s release in the US and Asia.

Defiance Renewed for Second Season and More DLC is Announced
SyFy has renewed the postapocalyptic alien TV show Defiance for a second season with thirteen additional episodes set for 2014. Also, the creative team involved with the first season – executive producer and showrunner Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Caprica), along with executive producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin (Smallville) and consulting producer Michael Taylor will all be returning. On the video game side, Developer Trion Worlds announced this week that five downloadable content updates are coming to the game in 2013, the first of which will introduce the Castithan species and will run gamers $10.
Manhunt and The Warriors Coming to the PlayStation Network
The controversial Manhunt will be arriving on the PlayStation Network next week, Rockstar North made the announced earlier this week. For those of you who may have forgotten, Manhunt is a stealth-based psychological horror game played from a third-person perspective. The game consists of twenty levels, as well as four unlockable bonus levels. Players survive the scenes by dispatching enemy gang members, known as “Hunters”, occasionally with firearms, but primarily by stealthily executing them. Manhunt on the PSN will cost $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99. Additionally, Rockstar Games also revealed that The Warriors, the 2005 game based on the 1979 gang film, is also slated for release later this year.

Borderlands 2 Gear Up Weekend is Live Now
Gearbox Software has announced that they are gearing up for next week’s release of the Krieg the Psycho character in Borderlands 2 with special in-game events between now and then Gearbox quote – “Prepare for the arrival of Krieg the Psycho, the new playable character for Borderlands 2, releasing May 14, with special in-game events from May 10 through the end of May 13 The Bandits of Pandora can feel one of their own approaching and have ramped up the production of Bandit gear accordingly, so expect to see an increase in Bandit gear drops when playing Borderlands 2 while connected to the internet. But watch out! Reports suggest an increased population of Badass Psychos in Lynchwood, Thousand Cuts and Eridium Blight. Delta Six: An Open Source Gaming Gun On Kickstarter
Inventor David Kotkin announced this week the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for the Delta Six: his new game controller that will take first person shooter games like the newly announced Call of Duty: Ghosts to the next level. Kotkin hopes that this revolutionary controller will impress the mature gamer audience. According to Kotkin – “It’s always difficult to gauge the quality of gun controllers without actually trying one out, but it appears the ambitious Delta Six is in some competent hands as its creator also made the highly-praised Avenger Controller. They saw the great potential and were very interested in the possibilities. We discussed how it could be compared to IMAX movies and how you have to offer more to not be taken over by the competition. We were in agreement that Delta could be a Blockbuster with the proper support. They saw Kickstarter as a good test to see if they will give that support.” The Delta Six mirrors the look of a modern military combat rifle, including real time aiming as well as a kickback sensation. The Delta Six was developed using IR sensors, accelerometers and gyroscopes to provide unparalleled arcade experience. The Delta Six is compatible with XBOX, PlayStation 3, and PC systems. The Delta Six can also be upgraded to the Next Generation systems like PlayStation 4 with a downloadable patch.
Maxim Magazine Sponsored Gears of War: Judgment DLC Round 2 Announced
New Gears of War Judgment downloadable content, in cooperation with Maxim Magazine, has been announced. The new map, Dreadnought, is playable in Gears of War Judgment’s OverRun mode and is set on the CNV Pomeroy, a naval vessel where the COG transported captured Locust Berserkers in the months following Emergence Day. Here is a brief description of the new map – “Little did they know that the Locust had waterborne beasts from the underground rivers of the Hollow, or that the Locust soldiers would use them so relentlessly to rescue the captured Berserkers, the Pomeroy was corralled into a narrow channel and forced ashore, where the Locust sent a mass of troops to assault and overwhelm the beached vessel”. Gamers can download a new multiplayer map for free beginning May 15.

Warner Bros Acquires Rights to Reboot ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Movie
According to a report by Deadline, Warner Bros has acquired rights to make a movie based on Dungeons & Dragons, the perennially popular role-playing game fantasy game. David Leslie Johnson (Wrath Of The Titans and Red Riding Hood) is already in the process of writing the script and the film will be produced by Roy Lee and Courtney Solomon. The first Dungeons & Dragons movie, directed by Solomon and released in 2000, was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen in my life and it was lambasted by movie critics worldwide. No casting details or release window has been announced but let’s hope for D&D fans around the world that Warner Bros will expend the necessary assets to make this a movie worth watching.
Son of Nor Kickstarter Announced
Son of Nor is a 3rd person action adventure game set in a desert world where human kind is on the brink of extinction at the hands of the Sarahul; an evil race of reptilian creatures bent on the destruction of human civilization. Players become humanity’s last hope for survival in an epic struggle to hold back the Sarahul hordes and change the destiny of the entire planet. In Son of Nor, players command unique force abilities with which they must fight, solve puzzles and ultimately stay alive. These abilities include telekinesis, powerful magic spells and terraforming; manipulation of the game world itself, something that has not been seen to this level before in a video game. If Son of Nor is successfully funded through Kickstarter, the team anticipate a release in Q2, 2014.
