EA Sports & the new UFC Game Update
EA Canada and Brian Hayes, the developers behind the excellent Fight Night Champion, are heading up a new UFC title for EA Sports. Hayes recently said in a press release: “Ultimately, we’re huge fans, we think we have a great team, and we are really excited to be taking on this new challenge… We look forward to bringing the UFC video game experience to new heights.”
Rock Band Blitz News
Rock Band Blitz, the first downloadable game in the Rock Band series, is set for release on the PlayStation Network on August 28th for $15. Blitz is due on Xbox Live Arcade the following day, on August 29th for 1,200 MS points. Four new songs have been confirmed for the game, including Fun’s “We Are Young,” Avenged Sevenfold’s “So Far Away,” “Sing,” by My Chemical Romance, and “Jungle Boogie” by Kool & The Gang.

Battlefield 4 Announced
Electronic Arts has been confirmed as having Battlefield 4 in development, with a rep stating that a project beta is being prepped for fall 2013, exclusive to gamers who pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter. He assuaged fan concerns early on be announcing on Reddit that while his team at EA is hard at work on raising Battlefield 4, Battlefield 3 at DICE is still being supported and worked on. “Starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard to bring you the best expansions we can. DICE and EA are dedicated to continuing our support for Battlefield 3. Just as we’ve continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, we intend to continue providing the best Battlefield 3 experience we can well into the future and past the release of End Game and Battlefield 4.”
World of Warcraft Film Update
The film adaptation of World of Warcraft, originally set to be directed by Sam Raimi, is now short a director due to Raimi’s extensive post-production work on Oz: The Great and Powerful. Recently, at Comic-Con, CraveOnline interviewed Raimi, who said: “Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore, because when I took the Oz job they had to move on to another director… They had to start making it.”

Get The Laugh Factory on Your PS3
The Laugh Factory, a world-famous Hollywood comedy club, has received its own PlayStation 3 app, coming to the PlayStation Network on September 1st. The application streams live comedy performances from the club, as well as past performances from “The best moments of the club’s past.” Though the app will initially be free, come December it will cost $3 per month. Some comics that have performed at the factory include Dane Cook and Dave Chappelle.
Party Wave on iTunes
Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, is finally releasing Party Wave, the latest game from his studio on iTunes. The game, which involves surfing while dodging obstacles like coral and sea turtles, costs $1.99 and is now available.
Expendables 2 – Video Game Trailer
Ouya, Human Element & Robotoki
Ouya, the hack-able Android console, will soon be receiving its first exclusive: a prequel to Robert Bowling’s Human Element, the first game from Robotoki studio. According to the Ouya Kickstarter page, gamers will have access to the episodic prequel to Human Element, which sets the stage for the 2015 release of the full game.
The Elder Scrolls Online to Consoles?
The new MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online might be released on consoles as well as PC’s, according to Zenimax Online head Matt Firor. According to an interview he recently gave to GamesIndustry, Firor hinted at the scope of the project’s ambition by saying, “We want to do what we’re doing right now and then look around for further opportunities. Certainly we’re open to new opportunities, and we’re going to be looking into new territories beyond North America and Europe.”
