Saving Wrestling – The Inside Story of the Sport’s Epic Fight to Stay in the Olympics
By Scott Casber
Jamie Moffatt and Craig Sesker’s latest book, “Saving Wrestling: The Inside Story of the Sport’s Epic Fight to Stay in the Olympics”, is at the printer’s and will be available in another week or two in Ebook and Traditional Paper and Ink.
When the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended back in February that wrestling be dropped as an Olympic sport, Moffatt had an inkling that there could be a compelling story coming out of this. He started taking notes, conducting interviews, collecting news stories and correspondence, seeking out inside sources. He asked award-winning author Craig Sesker to work with him on the project and Craig immediately accepted.
To capture first-hand stories and soak up the environment, they traveled to the major events:
– the United Nations press conference and the wrestling matches in Grand Central Terminal between the Iranians, the Russians and the USA;
– the presentations and the IOC short-list vote in St. Petersburg, Russia;
– the final presentations and IOC vote in Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 8.
For seven months, they ate, slept and breathed “Saving Wrestling…”
We all know the happy ending for wrestling. But much of the material contained in the book is only known to a select few, those who were instrumental in the process – people at the IOC, FILA, USA Wrestling, and the Russian Wrestling Federation. Until now….
Now listen to this exclusive interview by Takedown Radio‘s Scott Casber with Jamie Moffat, enjoy!
