Age is just a number.
European regional mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion OKTAGON MMA held its first event of 2025 yesterday (Sat., Feb. 1, 2025) from inside PSD Bank Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany.
OKTAGON 66: “Engizek vs. Oniszczuk” was a violent event with nine finishes in 11 fights, and one of those finishes came on the free early “Prelims” as Danielle Misteli, a 48-year old Bantamweight strangled Sara Luzar Smajic in the second round.
Misteli’s submission win was shocking. She was a massive underdog and was brought in just to be another name on her opponent’s resume; however, that did not happen.
Check out the finish below:

Misteli (4-4) is now riding a three-fighting winning streak after starting her MMA career 1-4. Two of her losses are to current UFC fighter Melissa Mullins and OKTAGON Bantamweight champion Cecilie Bolander.
The Switzerland-born fighter started her MMA career two years ago at age 46 after raising three children who are now adults and decided to fight because she “felt free to embrace her passion for MMA.”
