Paul Crushes ‘Owned Slave’ Canelo
Jake Paul was on the verge of finally getting his long-desired boxing match with Canelo Alvarez later this year, but now that the Mexican superstar has signed an exclusive four-fight deal with Riyadh Season it has left “Problem Child” in a pit of disappointment.
Boxing fans were shocked on Thursday to learn that a showdown between Paul and Canelo was pretty much a lock for May 3 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The superfight was expected to air exclusively on Netflix, which just hosted Paul’s wildly successful boxing match against Mike Tyson back in November of last year. It seemed like the next logical step in Paul’s growing boxing career and a tremendous opportunity for Canelo to make an easy payday.
Sadly, Paul’s chance to fight Canelo lasted just 24 hours. Earlier Saturday, news leaked that Canelo abandoned his superfight with Paul and signed a new deal to fight exclusively for Riyadh Season. This could mean big things for Canelo as he was already rumored to fight undefeated champion Terence Crawford later this year, but the change in plans has left Paul on the outside looking in (for now).
After Paul’s team issued a scathing message in response to Canelo’s withdrawal, “Problem Child” took to Instagram to call out the Mexican boxer himself. Check out his reaction below and let us know your final thoughts on this wild course of events!
“Breaking news: Canelo Alvarez ducked me, Jake Paul, and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil. it’s not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring. I’m the new face of boxing. You cannot have the biggest fight of 2025 without my name involved. When all of your events tank and lose money you will all realize who the king of the sport is. 28 years old. Biggest fight in boxing history. My own boss. Not owned. 5 years in. All of you felines want to see me fail, but God has other plans. It’s the era of good. The era of the elephant. It’s the era of MVP.”
