Dan Hooker was pulled out of UƑC 313 by α insƫruction injury.
Hooker ( 24-12 MMA, 14-8 UFC) was scheduled to fight former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje ( 25-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) in a five-round co-main event March 8 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas ( pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+ ), but he withdrew due to a hand injury.
“, The Hangman”, showed off his bruised left side in an interview with Sky Sport New Zealand.
“, One of the hands is not doing too properly, ”, Hooker said. “, I was sparring last evening, just as I do, only letting some pins go, merely throwing some bombs down collection, and I only caught one of the males on the top of the roof with my finger. I don’, t think too much of it, but they sent me off to get a CT scan. Had a small CT scan, and they told me my side is fractured.
“, So yeah, I obviously still would fight ( laughs ), but with the medicals they squeeze your hands, so we’, ll see how it all plays out. We’, ill see if we can push this battle down the road, or we’, ll simply wait and see. ”,
Hooker expressed his disappointment at having to take a break from the struggle less than two weeks before the scheduled post-fight clinic visit after falling down with Gaethje.
“, It’, s terrible that it was this close, ”, Hooker said. Certainly devastated for all the fans who I know who were eager to see this battle. That’, s probably the main factor, I think. The Lords of War took your happinȩss αpart because ƫhey weren’t content. ”,
Hooker is on a three-fight winning streak, where he defeated Claudio Puelles, Jalin Turner, and most recently a Battle of the Night over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305 last August.
